Philip
Lay is a co-founder and managing director at TCG Advisors. With
over 25 years experience in the IT industry, mostly in executive-level
operating roles and since 1995 in his advisory role, Philip works
with executive teams and boards of enterprise software and systems
companies to address strategic problems affecting their success
in the marketplace.
Philip
also publishes an email newsletter and weblog titled "Under
the Buzz" (readership over 30,000), and he is an accomplished
keynote speaker and panel moderator at national and international
conferences.
From
late 1999 until the end of 2002 Philip served as the managing partner
of The Chasm Group with responsibility for coordinating the firm's
business strategy and operations.
Focus
of Advisory Activities
As
part of his work facilitating strategy development for clients,
Philip also focuses on helping his clients to define suitable success
metrics, drive go-to-market and resource management programs where
needed, and deploy cross-functional teams composed of executives
and middle managers to drive the new strategies to successful execution.

His current and past clients include leading companies
such as Agile Software, AspenTech, Autodesk, BMC Software, Hewlett-Packard,
Lawson Software, and Mentor Graphics, as well as a number of other
publicly and privately funded e-business software companies.
Before
TCG Advisors and The Chasm Group
Prior to joining The Chasm Group in 1995, Philip co-founded
and operated two successful businesses including TGR, a software
development company specializing in data security and PC-to-mainframe
file transfer products. Previously, he was country manager of a
database and ERP software company, a corporate finance officer at
Bank of America, and a sales executive for IBM UK.
Philip
graduated in French and History of Fine Arts in 1971 with honors
from the Universities of Reading (UK) and Aix-en-Provence (France).
In addition to his native English, he speaks French, Portuguese
and Spanish.
